Polished Concrete Flooring
High-gloss, low-maintenance polished concrete floors for GTA homes and businesses, ground and honed from the slab you already own.
Polished concrete is the rare floor that is already in your building. Instead of covering the slab with another material, we grind, hone and refine the concrete itself into a dense, smooth surface with the sheen you choose, from soft matte to high gloss.
TCR Pro installs polished concrete floors for homes and businesses across Toronto and the GTA. It is durable, easy to live with and quietly good looking, which is why it has moved from warehouses into kitchens and living rooms.

How concrete polishing works
Polishing is a multi-step mechanical process, closer to sanding wood than to painting. Progressively finer diamond tooling grinds and hones the surface, exposing aggregate to the depth you want and building sheen step by step.
Repairs come first. Cracks and defects are patched, joints tidied and the slab assessed honestly before the first pass, because polishing refines a floor, it does not hide one.
The finish is the concrete itself, densified and refined. There is no film to scratch, peel or recoat, and no wax schedule to keep up.
Where polished concrete makes sense
- Homes. Basements, main floors and lofts that want a clean, modern surface with almost no upkeep.
- Retail and showrooms. A bright, reflective floor that handles daily traffic in front of customers.
- Warehouses and industrial space. Abrasion-resistant floors that carry equipment and stay easy to clean.
- Schools and institutional buildings. Durable, low-maintenance surfaces for decades of use.
Why people choose polished concrete floors
Durability is the headline: polished concrete resists stains, scratches and traffic better than terrazzo or wood. Maintenance is minimal, dust mopping and the occasional damp mop, with no wax and no epoxy to renew.
It is also an environmentally sensible choice. The floor uses the slab that already exists, with no new flooring material manufactured, shipped or eventually landfilled, and it can contribute to LEED credits on qualifying projects.
Polishing, overlay or coating?
Polished concrete needs a slab worth refining. If your concrete has widespread surface damage, a decorative overlay or epoxy floor may serve you better, and we install more than 120 finishes across those systems.
Because TCR Pro does all three, the recommendation you get is based on your slab, not on the one product a contractor happens to sell. We look at the floor, then tell you what it wants.
Choosing your look
Polished concrete is more customizable than its reputation suggests. Grinding depth sets the character: a light polish keeps the slab’s smooth cream surface, deeper passes expose a salt-and-pepper texture or full aggregate for a terrazzo-like look.
Sheen is the second decision, from a soft matte that hides traffic to a high-gloss finish that bounces light around the room. We sample the options on your slab before the full floor is committed, so the choice is made from real concrete, not a brochure.
Every slab is different, and the aggregate hiding in yours is part of the result. That individuality is much of the appeal.

Frequently asked questions
It is one of the most durable floors available, more so than terrazzo or wood, because the wear surface is the concrete itself, densified and refined. It resists stains, scratches and heavy traffic, which is why warehouses and retail stores rely on it. In a home it simply outlasts the alternatives.
The opposite. There is no wax to strip and reapply and no coating to recoat: routine cleaning is dust mopping and occasional damp mopping. That low maintenance is a big part of why businesses choose it.
Cracks and small defects are patched during preparation and become part of the floor's character. A slab with widespread surface damage may be a better candidate for an overlay or epoxy system instead, and since we install those too, you get an honest recommendation rather than a forced fit.
Anything from a low-sheen matte to a high-gloss mirror finish. The level of grinding and honing determines the sheen, and we sample the options with you before committing the whole floor.
