Concrete Sealing & Protective Coatings
Repair, then protect. Penetrating and film-forming sealers shield GTA concrete from road salt, freeze-thaw and water damage.
Concrete in the GTA does not wear out so much as it gets eaten. Water soaks into the surface, freezes and pops it apart from inside, while road salt drives more moisture in and attacks the concrete chemically. Sealing is the cheap, unglamorous step that interrupts all of it.
TCR Pro applies protective sealers across Toronto and the GTA, as the finishing step of our repairs and as a standalone service for concrete that is still sound. Repair, then protect: that order is the whole philosophy.

Why sealing matters in Ontario
Concrete is porous. Every fall it drinks in water, and every winter that water freezes and expands, scaling and pitting the surface. De-icing salt makes the cycle worse by keeping surfaces wet longer and adding chemical attack.
A sealed surface takes in dramatically less water, so there is less to freeze and less salt carried in. The driveway that flakes every spring and the steps that crumble at the edges are, more often than not, simply unsealed.
Penetrating vs film-forming sealers
Penetrating sealers soak into the concrete and react within it, blocking water and salt absorption while leaving the look and traction unchanged. They are the workhorse choice for driveways, walkways, steps and any exterior surface that sees winter.
Film-forming sealers build a protective layer on the surface, adding sheen and deepening colour. They are the right finish over decorative work, where they double as the wear layer that keeps the finish looking new.
The choice depends on the surface, its exposure and how it is used. We specify the sealer per project instead of applying one product to everything.
Repair, then protect
Concrete sealing in Toronto works best as the second half of a repair. Sealing over open cracks and spalls just preserves the damage, so we fix the surface first, then lock it in.
Every repair we deliver, driveways, porches, steps, patios, pool decks, resurfaced floors, can be finished with the appropriate sealer. It is the difference between fixing this winter’s damage and preventing the next five winters’ worth.
When to seal and reseal
New repairs and overlays are sealed once they are properly cured. Existing concrete can be sealed any time it is sound, clean and dry, with spring and fall the natural windows.
Protection fades with sun and traffic, so resealing on the right schedule matters. When we seal a surface we tell you its realistic interval, and a simple check, water beading versus soaking in, tells you when it is due.
What we seal
Driveways, walkways and steps are the classic candidates, since they take the most salt. Patios and pool decks follow close behind, with sealers chosen to handle sun and pool chemicals as well as frost.
Indoors and in business settings we seal garage floors, warehouse slabs and resurfaced or decorative floors, where the sealer doubles as the wear layer that keeps the finish looking new.
If we repaired it, we can protect it, and if someone else’s concrete is still sound, sealing is the cheapest way to keep it that way.
Why TCR Pro
We have repaired concrete across the GTA since 1998, which means we have spent decades fixing exactly the damage sealing prevents. That experience informs every recommendation: honest product choices, proper cleaning and prep, and concrete sealing in Toronto and the GTA that actually earns its keep. Frequently asked questions
In Ontario, yes. Freeze-thaw and road salt destroy concrete from the surface in, and a sealer blocks the moisture that drives both. Sealing costs a small fraction of the surface repairs it prevents, which is why we treat it as the standard last step of our own repair work.
A penetrating sealer soaks into the concrete and blocks water and salt absorption without changing the look or traction, ideal for driveways and walkways. A film-forming sealer builds a protective layer on top, adding sheen and enriching colour, the right choice over decorative finishes. We match the type to the surface and its traffic.
It depends on the sealer type, sun exposure and traffic, penetrating sealers typically go longer between coats than film-forming ones. Rather than quote a universal number, we tell you the realistic schedule for your surface when we seal it, and a simple water test shows when protection is fading.
Sound existing concrete absolutely benefits from sealing, and it is one of the cheapest ways to extend its life. The surface is cleaned and prepared first, and any cracks or damage are worth repairing before sealing locks the surface in. We can assess both in one free estimate.
