A concrete overlay is the answer to a specific question: how do you get a brand new surface without replacing the slab? The overlay bonds to your existing concrete and becomes the new wear layer, in whatever look you choose.

Graniflex: the crack-resistant overlay
Graniflex deserves its own mention. It is a multi-lift decorative resurfacing system whose resin penetrates the capillaries of the concrete and cures into a permanently flexible membrane. It does not go brittle with age, which makes it highly crack resistant and suitable as a moisture-controlling layer, not just a finish.
It handles pool decks, driveways, walkways, porches, garage and basement floors, interior or exterior, with thousands of permanent colour and chip combinations. If your surface takes weather and traffic, Graniflex is usually our first suggestion.
Where overlays work
Almost anywhere there is a sound substrate. Exterior: porches, steps, patios, pool decks, walkways and driveways. Interior: basements, kitchens, living areas and commercial floors. Many systems also install over existing ceramic tile or plywood after proper preparation, which opens options renovators do not expect.
Repairs first, decoration second
An overlay over damaged concrete just decorates the damage. We repair cracks at depth, rebuild spalls, correct slopes and grind the surface before any decorative concrete goes down. That order of operations, repair first, is why our finishes last.
How an overlay is installed
Every concrete overlay follows the same discipline, whatever the finish on top. The slab is inspected and any cracks, spalls or slope problems are repaired first, because an overlay bonds to what is underneath and inherits its condition.
The surface is then ground and cleaned so the system bonds to concrete rather than to dust, paint or old sealer. The overlay itself goes down in the lifts and textures its manufacturer specifies, and decorative work, flakes, texture or colour, happens within those layers.
A protective sealer finishes the job, chosen for the exposure: UV and salt outside, traffic and cleaning inside. Cure times are confirmed before we start, so you know exactly when the surface goes back into service.
